SERCMERC restricts concurrent Net-Metering and Open Access on the same connection. Converting Rooftop Solar to BTM with Zero Export (using Class 0.2s RPR) enables full self-consumption while Captive Solar supplies the remaining demand with zero CSS.

Statutory Captive Eligibility Audit (Rule 3)
Consumer holds minimum 26% equity share capital with voting rights in the generator SPV.
Captive consumer consumes at least 51% of aggregate electricity generated on an annual basis.
Zero CSS / AS liability. 100% Captive statutory exemption validated under Electricity Rules 2005/2023.
Time-of-Day (TOD) Tariff Arbitrage Strategy
Under SERC industrial tariffs, electricity drawn during the evening peak window (18:00 – 22:00) incurs a 20% to 30% surcharge (up to ₹10.50 – ₹12.00/kWh). When BTM Rooftop Solar generation exceeds factory demand around midday (11:00 – 14:00), the Reverse Power Relay would otherwise curtail solar to enforce Zero-Export. The BESS intercepts this curtailed energy at zero marginal cost and discharges it during the evening peak, maximizing financial yield.
